A Different Spin
Not your average Christmas songs

I guess I just cant stay away.
The last few years I have made some altered Christmas playlists on Spotify. We hear the same songs every year on the radio, in the stores and I guess I just needed something different. I don’t always see these times of year as everyone else does. Truth be told, I don’t like being told how to celebrate something. Don’t get me wrong, I love traditions. I love creating them with people and I love changing them as we all grow and evolve. There might be some that stand the test of time but they are few.
With both my husband and I having covid the past few weeks it hasn’t been on my mind to decorate or fuss. I haven’t even thought of presents or cards. Just sleep, lots and lots of sleep. So, I did what I could. I used the table I found on the side of the road and put a tablecloth I made one holiday for a kids table on it. Add my Caga Tió, a small spruce tree and an ornament my mom made and an ornament my grandma bought me when we were out to lunch at our favorite place that happens to have a gift store attached. It is enough. I know I will do a little more when I am feeling better but it is ok if it doesn’t happen.
What I am getting at is this….. do what you want. If it is big and showy, do it. If it is small and quiet, do it. Love every second of it. That is what celebrations are for. Not for comparison.
I am sharing the past two years of playlists so you can get an idea of how varied our holiday can be. Just the act of listening to different music can spark some wonderful creativity. If you know me at all, you know that playlists are a passion. Exploring different genres is exciting. A lot of the songs might not be your cup of tea at first, that’s ok. Keep an open mind and maybe find some new favorites of your own.
